Oven Baked Panzerotti

Sometimes I don't feel well after deep fried panzerottis so I have searched for a little less greasy ones. The taste certainly depends on the filling or stuffing but these panzerottis from the oven have a slightly different taste. Nice dinner with less fat.

Ingredients for the dough

  • 1/2 cup of warm water
  • 1 little pack yeast
  • 600g of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tbsp of oil
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 2 tsp of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of yogurt
  • 1/2 cup of milk
Method
Make a dough out of the ingredients and knead it until it stops sticking to your hands and the bowl. Make sure that all of the ingredients are at least at room temperature when you add them, because the yeast may became frightened of the cold yogurt (for example) and won't double itself at all. Leave the dough to rest for 20 minutes and in the meanwhile prepare grated cheese and other ingredients you like the most.

Cut little balls from dough (the amount per a ball is our choice), and roll them out into the square shape to be able to put the stuffing in the middle. Fold the dough like on the picture and roll it in.

Put the panzerottis in the baking pan covered with baking paper and leave them for 10 minutes more to rest a bit and put them into the preheated oven on 400 F degrees.

Bake them until the color you see on them becomes nice and brownish. At the end, you will get nice crusty and delicious panzerottis with your favorite stuffing.
