Cinnamon rolls are always bringing smile to my face. The entire house smells like cinnamon - I love it! When the rolls come out of the oven we are all over it until they are gone! Nice little rolled in buns with a lot of cinnamon, sugar and glazed before serving. I could never say no to such a sweet and tasty buns. My son adores the cinnamon and when it's on sweet buns - it's a win-win combination!
The ingredients for the dough
- 4 cups of flour
- 1/2 package of yeast
- 1 cup of milk
- 2 tbsp of butter
- 2 tbsp of sugar
- a pinch of salt
- 1 large egg
Method for preparing a dough
Put the yeast, sugar, warm milk and some flour into the bowl and stir it. Leave it to rest for 5-10 minutes. Then add all the other ingredients and make a smooth dough (slowly adding the flour). Leave the dough to rest and double it's size for about half an hour. After that the dough is ready to work with.
Let's make the rolls
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and cream the butter on it. Sprinkle the cinnamon as much as you like it and sprinkle the sugar on top, off course. Now, roll in the dough and cut in 1 - 1.5 inch sections to get rolls. Put them into the pan covered with baking paper and leave to rest until you preheat the oven on 350 F degrees. Bake the rolls for approximately 30 minutes or until they get a nice light brownish color.
Now is the time for the simple glaze you can make
- 1/2 cup of powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp of half and half (light cream)
Pour the glaze on the cinnamon rolls and serve them.
A lot of people put the raisins or other stuff in the cinnamon rolls, but I think that plain are the best!
