Homemade Pastry Buns

Just perfect for lite dinner or for good morning breakfast with a glass of yogurt. These crusty and delicious salty buns are more than welcome in our house! Adorable little bites make our meal appetizing. Sesame seeds are extremely decorative detail and bring a yummy taste to our plates.

Ingredients for the dough

  • 2 cups of warm milk
  • 1/2 of small pack of yeast
  • 2 tsp of sugar
  • 4 cups of flour(or as much as the dough takes in)
  • 1 cup of sunflower oil
  • 1 tsp of salt

Method
Put the yeast into the bowl with 1 cup of warm milk, sugar and 1 cup of flour. Stir it slightly and leave it to bubble for 5 minutes. Than add the rest of the milk, salt, 2 cups of flour and stir until you get a sticky dough. Adding oil will help to make a soft dough. Leave it to rest and double it's size for 1/2 an hour.
4 tbsp of butter (room temperature) and 2 tsp of salt is needed for the next step.

Roll out the dough and cream half of it with 1 spoon of butter and sprinkle it with salt. Fold the dough in half and roll it a little bit so you can cream one more spoon of butter and sprinkle some salt...do this until you have butter. When you are finished cut stripes and every stripe cut in little squares and put into the pan covered with baking paper. Daub every little square with egg yolk just to make it more colorful. Leave it like that for 1/2 an hour more to rest and than bake on 400 F degrees. When the little buns get a nice color they are done. :-) If you like, use sesame seeds as decoration - or some other seeds you like. Don't forget a glass of yogurt to enrich your meal.
