Hazelnut Roll Cake - Strudel

This is a strudel for everybody...simply likable cake. Even those who don't like cakes will reach for it for sure. Not so complicated, dough is the same like for the poppy seed strudel and the other stuff is optional...but this time I have chosen hazelnuts and off course - chocolate. Unforgettable combination which wins every taste.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of flour
  • 1 cup of warm milk
  • 1/2 cup of warm water
  • 2 tbsp of sugar
  • 2 tsp of yeast
  • 1/2 cup of melted butter
Method
Put the yeast, a little flour, sugar and warm milk into the bowl and stir it. Leave it to bubble :-) for 5 minutes and start kneading the dough by adding all the other ingredients. When the dough gets smooth leave it to rest for 30 minutes covered with a kitchen cloth.

Roll out the dough in a square shape to be 3mm thin and start pouring the ingredients on it - like...

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of grated hazelnuts (or some other kind of nuts)
  • 1 cup of grated white and dark chocolate
  • 2 tbsp of vanilla sugar
If you add more chocolate or nuts the strudel won't stand the same like mine, but you can try. I am on your side :-) It should be tastier.

When you are done with stuffing it, roll the strudel in and place it in the baking pan covered with baking paper. Use one egg to cover the strudel and leave it for a half an hour at least to rest.

Bake it on 400 F degrees for half an hour and when you take it out cover it with a cloth. Remember, don't cut the cake until it's still warm - it'll fall a part. It won't be nice!
