Chocolate Filled Cocoa Sandies

Perfect little cookies for an afternoon snack in a garden. The kids would like them very much. I had to make a double dose to be enough for all of us. Little chocolate chunks wrapped in cocoa cookie dough is anything but not complicated. The recipe I have got from my friend works for years and without any changes. Milk or an orange juice goes very well with those small delicious chocolate filled buttons :-)

Simple Cherry Pie

I am always looking for something that can be made quickly and to be tasty just as all those complicated cakes. This Cherry Pie is one of the most easiest recipes of all times, but when you eat it - you really can't stop. Simple yogurt cake with cherries sprinkled all over it can be the perfect dessert in a cherry season which lasts only 100 days in a year. Use these days for picking fresh cherries from the garden and making this simple cherry pie.

Pancakes with Strawberries - Strawberry Crepes

I like these thin pancakes. It's always a pleasure to wrap something in those thin round cakes with crusty edges. Sometimes, I indulge my self with pancakes creamed with Nutella or a homemade fruit jam, but from time to time I have an urge to wrap something that could look like the most delicious dessert - this pancake is a perfect example. :-)

Unusual Cottage Cheese Bread

This bread totally depends of the type of the cottage cheese and the taste of the sour cream. That is why I always buy the same cheese and sour cream to make the best bread. When I need something quick to put on the table with a smell of the freshly baked homemade bread, I turn to this recipe with a smile because it always brings me back to my childhood and my grandmother's kitchen.

Clover Pastry Buns

Something drove me to bake these nice and really delicious buns... It was only my creativity :-) Baloney slice between two layers of circled pastry with twisted edges was my new solution for an afternoon snack. It supposed to look like clover and I do think it does and the taste is above great. It's not hard to make and looks really decoratively on the table served with yogurt or milk.

Twisted Pastry Braid

I woke up this morning with a thought to make something easy and unusual. I have made a basic dough and thought a little bit more. The dough smelled so good and fresh, and it was so bubbly under my fingers and the idea knocked on the door. I was going to make a Twisted Pastry Braid, so crunchy outside and soft inside with salty note of freshly baked pastry like the one in the bakery shop around the corner.

Poppy Seed Strudel

This adorable Poppy Seed Strudel I have made on my son's request today. He was very happy :-) I was too :-) This is a roll cake that you should try to make at least once in your life... It's not hard to make but you must follow the recipe step by step in order to make a strudel soft, airy and without cracks. I won't say that mine is crackless but I gave my best :-)

Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies

Dark chocolate is a really healthy blessing for all those who want to loose weight. Choose these dark chocolate chip cookies with pecans to indulge your cravings for chocolate and sweet treats. I have heard that dark chocolate causes less aging but although I think it can be an exaggeration, I would choose these among all the others. :-)

Buns Wrapped with Ham and Cheese

My guys like salty snacks, especially stuffed or wrapped things with cheese and ham or hot dogs, so I had to bake these soft little buns wrapped with ham and cheese. I heard that if you put them in a plastic bag softness will stay 'till the next day - but I haven't tried that because there was no leftovers :-) Just to mention, the procedure is not the complicate one, the only thing you have to be aware is the time for dough to double itself... and let your creativity do the rest. :-)

Danish Pastry Buns

A lot of my friends buy the frozen pastry, but I think that the best pastry is the one made by me, at home and from my ingredients. When you learn how to make it, the rest goes easy and quickly. You choose the stuffing and the taste or it can be empty and originally shaped. This time I have made danish pastry buns with salty cottage cheese stuffing and it came out very good and tasty. Just like from the baker's shop - my mother in law said :-)

Stuffed Cottage Cheese Buns

I had an hour and a half to make something salty, goes with beer and turns out enough for everybody! Oh, yeah, the game was on TV so the guys were coming to watch it. I have found this recipe on the back of the newspaper, as I had no time to search for more - had all the ingredients, good mood and the beer, off course! No, beer was not for me, just for the guys :-) So, I have made these salty cottage cheese buns stuffed with ham and cheese which melted and melted...mmm :-)

Norwegian Svele

I was searching for breakfast idea around the web and came across these Norwegian pancakes or svele. I had to try them out to see the difference but I came across a problem - salt of hartshorn (rising agent). OK, I said, I used baking powder instead. So, in my opinion svele has a lot of resemblance with American pancakes and you can serve them with anything you have...sweet or salty, just like pancakes.

Salty Corn Semolina Cake with Cream Cheese

I had to mention this salty cake for it's practical nature. I make it for breakfast sometimes. Great cake for an afternoon snack or even when you watch the game and drink beer. In our family everyone likes it when it's flat - more crusty. Try to make it yourself - in a short period of time, with a few ingredients and a smile on your face, please ;-)

Kranzl Cookies Filled with Homemade Jam

Old German recipe for small cookies filled with homemade jam - I like it with plum jam. Somehow  brings me back to childhood when my mum made them so often but always with children's help..so I was there every time. Nowadays, I have to make them myself - no matter, I enjoy it very much! I must say that the taste of the Kranzl Cookies really inspires you to eat more and more. :-)

Here comes another bite, and another and so on...I have stopped counting at 3. :-) A little bit sour - jam or a fruity marmalade, much more sweet as chocolate is and delicious pecans invite bite after bite. Put this cake on your table and eat it with joy - not alone, off course! :-) Greatest cake tor parties and gatherings, cut in small bite-sized cake slices, practical and beautifully looking on the table for decoration.

Mum's Simple Apple-Pecan Cake

Here is one of the simplest cakes I know. My mum makes it often and we like it very much. You can imagine apples and pecans combination of tastes in one cake. It's soft and moisty just like all apple cakes. You can toast the pecans but I rather not. Depends on tastes.
